About Energy Support Scotland

Practical support for Scottish residents on prepayment meters.

What we do

Energy Support Scotland helps eligible households in Scotland top up smart prepayment meters remotely. You pay £1 today; we complete the top-up within 48 hours of that £1 payment, and you authorise us to collect the remainder on/after your next pay or benefit date using your saved card.

Who can use this service

  • You live in Scotland.
  • You have a smart prepayment meter that supports remote top-ups (not a legacy key/card meter).
  • You can provide your supplier’s 19–20 digit smart top-up number from their app/smart card/IHD.

How it works

  1. Complete our short form with your details, supplier, and smart top-up number, and choose your next pay/benefit date.
  2. Pay £1 via our Stripe-hosted checkout (your card is saved securely for the later charge).
  3. We process your remote top-up within 48 hours and notify you once it’s completed.
  4. On/after your selected date, we collect the remaining amount using your saved card.

Fair & simple

  • Not a lender: this service is not credit or finance and is not FCA-regulated consumer credit.
  • No credit check and nothing is reported to credit reference agencies.
  • No interest or fees from us, and no debt-collection action if a payment fails—if your bank declines the later charge, we’ll arrange another attempt within a reasonable period.
  • You can change or cancel the later charge any time before your selected date by emailing support@energysupport.scot.

Security & privacy

Payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card number. We only collect what we need to provide the service (contact details, supplier, smart top-up number, your selected date, and consents).
